Join our Feminist Mentorship Network

Our feminist mentorship network is intentionally designed to be intergenerational. We do this by pairing high school students with college students, college students (undergraduate and graduate students) with early working professionals, and early working professionals with more established industry leaders. Our mentors help scholars build confidence, develop leadership skills, and pursue their goals! 

Our Framework: Feminist Mentorship

We define feminist mentorship as inclusive, intersectional, and responsive to the differing backgrounds and experiences that both mentors and mentees have. Feminist mentoring aims to disrupt traditional power structures in personal, professional, and academic spaces, while supporting emerging feminists, advocate students’ interests, and empower mentees to show up authentically. Our feminist mentorship emphasizes critical reflection, gender inequalities, and cultural-racial inequalities that show up in our school and work spaces. By meeting these moments head on, we hope to instill resilience, compassion, and ambition in all our mentees and mentors.

  • Starting in 2027, we will hold quarterly mentor training meetings to help equip our incoming mentors with the skills, language, and feminist values that are necessary for intergenerational mentorship. 

Mentee Inquiries

  • We’re ecstatic to have you as a mentee! Mentees are what make this network full of life. Please fill out the “Mentee Interest Form” and someone from our team will get in touch with you. Thank you! 

  • Starting in 2027, we will hold quarterly mentee training meetings to help equip our incoming mentees with the communication skills and feminist values that are necessary for intergenerational mentorship.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Nope! This is a free program for girls and women of color who want to engage in mentorship opportunities. 

  • Someone from our team will review your application and then reach out to set up a brief, informal virtual meeting to get to know you and your goals more in depth. During this time, we will help you fill out a second form with your interests, goals, and time commitment to then pair you with someone! 

  • There aren’t hard requirements, interested mentors and mentees don’t need to have prior mentorship experience, just a curiosity for widening their community. 

  • Kind of. You do not get to choose your mentor/mentee specifically, but based on your answers in the informal meeting, we pair you with someone who has similar interests and time commitment preferences. 

  • For first time mentors and mentees, we highly encourage to focus on one mentorship relationship. This way, both parties have adequate time to get to know one another, deepen their relationship, and achieve their goals. Both mentors and mentees will have other opportunities to connect with additional community members! 

    • Mariposa Collective provides milestone goals and soft requirements for the mentor-mentee relationship. This includes meeting once a month, establishing mentorship goals, and school or career development. 

    • We provide opportunities to engage with one another, especially when the mentor-mentee relationship is new

    • The interest forms include your preference for commitment, which varies from 4-months, 6-months, and 12-months.
